Hai Taubaa Actress Megha Mathur On Playing A Lesbian: 'My Dad Assured Me To Not Be Skeptical'- EXCLUSIVE
TV actress Megha Mathur is winning hearts with her performance in web show Hai Taubaa, where she plays a lesbian. Here's what the actress has to say about it
Actress Megha Mathur, who is currently seen in the web series Hai Taubaa on AltBalaji is playing the character of a girl named Deepa, who is in love with a girl named Sonal. Talking about playing a lesbian and how her family reacted to the decision, Megha had an interesting revelation to do.
Talking to SpotboyE.com exclusively, Megha said, "For me, it was the script of telling various stories and I was glad to be performing the agent of change that stirred the story. And my family has been majorly supportive of my work, especially my father's pro-activeness towards the art has given me the strength to make the choices I want to make. Regardless of which, I specifically messaged my Dad about the content and other details so that he would be prepared. Reading the text my Dad called me up, feeling that I was contemplating their reactions to it. He assured me that I shouldn't be skeptical about anything since he understands what I'm doing is for the character and an actor's body is his strongest tool to create art. To hear him say those words was quite predictive yet comforting for me." Also read: Tuhina Das, Gagan Anand And Bhakti Maniar Roped In For ALT Balaji's Hai Taubba- EXCLUSIVE
The actress also believes that people still have difficulty accepting such relationships, "I have come across very few people around me who flinch/frown upon it. But I won't say we are there yet to provide a comfortable environment for homosexuals, what's sad is that these relationships are still associated with lechery and not as something deriving out of love." Sharing her inhibitions while doing bold scenes, Megha says, "We have some scenes where there is kissing between the two characters, about which I was already informed at the time of casting. I only had my doubts about how it would be shot, but after meeting our director Mrs. Sangieta Rao, I was confident that it will be shot in the same fabric that the story was being woven into and it will not showcase lechery."
